Finally got my finds back from last years metal detecting trip in England.
Hunted for about 6 and 1/2 days in some fields northeast of London.
I got all my finds approved for export.
Involved a lot of walking and swinging. Dug a lot of targets.
The big group picture shows about 1/4 of all the targets I actually dug.
Dug a lot of buttons and left an equal number over there not to be sent back.
Everybody was in search for the gold Celtic coins and hammered coins and I
had just bought a new detector before the trip after a lot of comparison shopping.
The host seemed to think that if I wasn't using a Minelab, I wouldn't
find much. The Makro MultiKruzer did just fine and I dug many very small
targets in the gold range and did actually find a small gold stud.
This machine is built like a tank and is very sensitive once you get the settings
dialed in, plenty power.
two veterans in our group dug gold celtic coins.
My best finds were two crotal bells (first I'd ever found), three silver six pence, one
each for the 18th,19th and 20th centuries, a Georgian gold stud, a 4th century Roman
bronze coin-illegible, a farthing cut from a 1247 king Henry III hammered silver penny,
two Georgian watch winders, two thimbles and a dozen or so large coppers from 1700"s to
20th century.
Lots of work but a fun adventure.
