Was excited to hear a very nice coin signal in an old mining site where very little to no modern trash lurks about. After admiring the signal for a bit, I dug it and the first part that I could read said "2 Cent", but as soon as I turned it over I realized it was not a U.S. Coin, no surprise there as we find lots of mid and early 19th century foreign coins in the California gold camps. This one is a Belgium 2 Cent coin. The date is tough to read, looks like 1835 or 1838. I still have never dug a U.S. 2 cent piece or a 20 cent piece or a 1/2 cent.

Also found a Chinese coin nearby. A beautiful site so I added a few more pics.

Very nice foreign coin.

Nice find. Glad to see you getting out again, the weather must be cooling there. Looking forward to more of the videos you and Ron do. Congrats.

Looks like a beautiful place to hunt, congratulations! :occasion14:

Mr. Frog seems to be interested in metal detecting.

Very cool, congrats.

Cool find. Any coin in the 1800's is awesome.

Very interesting coin and quite old too! Looks like a really nice site to hunt and the frogs are friendly there too. :icon_thumright:

Cool finds, nice looking place.

Great report and pix from CA :) Love the site pix of the terrain you were hunting, the rock wall, and so forth. And the odd-ball foreign coins that come from these 1849 to 1850's sites, shows the immense in-pouring of people from around the world, who rushed here during that decade.

Hi Mike!! Yes the weather and ground conditions are perfect right now here in gold country, we are filming all kinds of new footage and will get some new videos up soon. Also working on a TV show with another very well known East Coast treasure hunter, can't give too many details now but stay tuned! :-D
