Hey guys,

I went and picked up my first nickel box today and this is what I came up with--

Out of 50 rolls:

33 pre-1959
1 wartime nickel
0 buffalos

1940
1940-d
1941 x2
1942
1942-s (wartime)
1946 x2
1947
1947-s
1949
1949-d
1951-d
1953
1953-s
1953-d
1954-s x2
1954-d
1954
1955-d
1956-d x4
1957-d
1958-d x5
1959-dx2

Here's a picture of the wartime nickel:

Question for the hunters out there -- Are any other dates I pulled desirable dates?

Thanks guys--!

Good Box of nickels I'd say. That 51d and 53s are good finds. I suggest you go to your local coin shop and buy a book. Mine cost $4 and tells all the mintage numbers for each coin. Good luck!

I second that. Buy 2 books (from 38 to present day) you'll find lots of really nice modern nickels too. It's nice to open those books and see a full shiny set. I keep all 59 and priors but I actually keep all nickels under 50 million mintage and sell the rest. 59d are everywhere.

1938 all mint marks, 1939 all mint marks, and 1950d are good ones. Id say the 1950d is one of the best nickels to find excluding errors and stuff. the value on a 50d is pretty high, like 5 bucks just for a vf. I keep all 60 and earlier coins too and havent found a 50d yet.

Nice finds by the way, keep it up.
