My first box of halves

If you sell, and reinvest, you lose money on both sides of the "spread".

If you keep it until you spend it for the end use, you save the money that would have been spent on premiums.

Keep on Rollin' !

That might be sure in some cases but I buy morgan always at or less than greysheet price on ebay. So I usually end up even at best.

Are you planning to sell on ebay? if so plan on taking a loss right there, and as for buying on ebay for dollars anyway, you will always pay a premium over spot if the coin is a common date.

For your strategy - sell CRH junk to buy Morgans, there is no point in waiting for Ag to go up.

Sure, the value of your CRH junk (your funds) goes up with spot, but so does the cost of the Morgans (your booty).

Some say that there is less premium when spot is high than when it is low, but that is more for fine Ag than for circulated coinage. The exception might be if you are looking to purchase graded Morgans.

Then you must know a lot more about coins than I do. I would never trust myself to buy morgans on Ebay due to the large number of Chinese fakes showing up these days. I'm afraid that I'd be losing money by trading real silver for worthless fakes. I probably couldn't tell the difference even if I had them in my hand let alone relying on a picture online that may not even be a picture of the actual coin. But that's just my insecurities.

By the way... CONGRATS on such a great first box! :icon_thumleft:
