I was able to slip out on Sunday morning with TNetters Kurt Stuben and P@tch. It was a beautiful sunny and warm day in the Carolinas. AND, Kurt put me on a spot with the goods!

The Deus was diligently searching, but not finding much other than clad. I got a really sharp small high tone... thinking copper cent, I dug a plug... and out pops my first class ring! I have been looking for one of these for almost 4 years with no luck.

WAIT A MINUTE! Something's not quite right.

This thing is WAY too small to be a ring.

Turns out it is a pendant, worn from a necklace, with the loop broken off of it. At first I was really bummed about it NOT being a ring... I quickly got over that though.

It's marked " WELLS STERLING", and cleaned up with a toothbrush, water and baking soda... I'm counting it as silver ring #7 for the year anyway.

Side note: Smittyman went to this school in the 1950s.

A little later one of my plugs had a 1960 dime in it. Silver coin #28 for the year.

All in all a good day, a hand full of Wheaties and a silver coin... and a "class ring"!

Thanks for looking and best of luck on your hunts!

That little silver ring is the nearest ring I've seen. Congrats

Looks like being in JR. High doesn't qualify wearing one on the finger.:laughing7:

GOD Bless

Chris

Congrats on the class ring with the Rosie kicker. I'm still looking for my first class ring.

Did smittyman really go to that school in the 50's?

Good job on that awesome ring, cleaned up well! Nothing wrong with a fistfull of keepers with some shiny bingo too! Good job

Tom, that is a ring, so it counts, pendant loop and all! Very pretty, unusual, and cool too. Congrats, Lance 8-)

Nice job on the silver Tom, I've never seen a ring pendant quite like that

Indeed, Smittyman, attended Spaugh Jr. High... in 1959!

That's way before either of us were born! Smittyman is VERY old.

I have one of thoes too - my glued in sticker (stone) is blue. Mine necklace class ring thingy was from the navy, and rhodium plated, but it's sterling underneigh.

Nice find!

Thanks JC.

I was really excited for about 30 seconds... then the impossibly small size just confused me. It took about 10 minutes to figure out that it was NOT actually a class ring.

Good finds from that hard hunted school. I pulled 3 Merc's and 2 Rosies from the flag pole out front. Pulled a ton of gold out of the field. Hardy found a ring that belonged to Steve is how I meet him. I went to Spaugh from 66 to 69 so Steve had to start around 63'. School was new at that time.

Nice finds. That little pendant hook looks like it may have been a silver solder add on. Maybe it was a class ring for a girl and someone added the hook to use it as a pendant. Congrats either way. Still a cool find.

Awesome little ring!!

she's a beautiful ring plus it is silver and a silver dime to boot, my first class ring was made of Valedium (spelling),the second was gold. I'd still be excited about finding that one:headbang:

I agree, I think it's a class ring that was turned into a pendant. Some girls have tiny fingers! So, congrats on your first class ring!

Nice find ...
but Ive found actual class rings smaller...barely fit on the top of my pinky

I think loop may have been added - could have been made to be put on a charm bracelet too
ive seen a few of those too

You always have to get the unique finds huh Tom? :dontknow: I'd be tickled to dig one of those. I bet they are rarer than normal sized class rings. You had a better weekend than me. I did pull a couple wheats, but my honey holes have dried up.
I recon it's time to do some good ole fashioned door knocking.

Yea, a Jr. High girl (or boy) prolly had these little pixie fingers, and as they grew out of the ring size, cheaper to add a jump ring to it.... likely a girl, no dude would wear that around his neck on a chain. 1950's anyways....
Congrats on the finds.
