My first detector story.. Add yours!!!

Must admit. I am bummed that this thread died out!
Thanks for all the stories.

i took my little brother to house site from the 1880's -1950's we get he turns on the detector he gets a high tone he popped the plug silver quarter from 1950

My first detector was a hand me down Whites 4900 back in 1973. My older brother gave it to me, showed me how to use it and took me to a spot where I found my first relic, a 58 cal. Minie ball if I remember correctly.

Great thread...my first detector was a White's something or other in 1998, can't remember which model but it was north of $500 so it was no joke. Im pretty sure I dragged it up to my old elementary school a couple times, poked around the slide and swings, pulled in less than a dollar total and tossed it in the corner...(TWINS!)...And you DO NOT want to know how/why/how much I got rid of it for...If you really want to know I'll tell, but it's painful, in more ways than one...Ddf.

Long winter in Upstate NY. Lets share our first detector stories and finds...

Whites MXT purchased several years ago. I just can't let it go. It was a bit expensive but it sure has worked well for me. Great on coins and relics, not bad on nuggets but certainly not the best either.
