My First Experience With the "G" word (Gold)...
I was fortunate enough to have day off from work and a fresh new permission to try out. Things were slow for most of the morning some clad and a few odds and ends. Then I got to a part of the yard that began to give up some wheat pennies but I was about to have to go and run some errands. On the last hole I had decided to dig, out popped my oldest coin a 1900 Hundred IHP. A pretty green one for St. Patricks day. After I had done my errands I decided to go back still pumped about my Indian. I got a slamming signal and popped the plug and there sat this watch. I pulled it out and rechecked the hole and there was a 45 signal still in there and out came the fob. I didn't want to get my hopes up that it was gold so I put it in my pouch and kept going. I took it over to the local jeweler and he confirmed that the fob was indeed gold. After playing with the watch i realized that the hinge pin was rotted out and the face popped off. Inside it is stamped with "12" I'm still not sure if it is solid or gold filled. If anyone has an idea please let me know. A great day none the less! Thanks for looking!
