Hunted a strip of woods today for 3 hours...all big alders...nothing around it to indicate anything special would be found.

But I like to hunt in the woods.. always bare ground and the finds are usually good..but just not plentiful usually.

The Seated Dime rang in at 72 on my Fisher F75...Knew it was a coin ...thought it was a Canadian Fishscale Nickel when it popped outta the ground..the same size..very small.
Then I seen the Seated Liberty...pretty sure the squirrels could see me grinning...made my day !!

Dunno what the big copper is ..a token of some sort.

The other big copper is a 1814 RH-Richard Hurd... my 2nd one.

Indian head is 1899.

The piece on the bottom right, is it lead? could it be a homemade pencil?..............HH

yes it is lead... very peculiar the shape as it has quite defined edges, definitely not a random cut ...how would that be a pencil ?

Nice find! I have started researching old topography maps to find old cabins/homesteads that are now woods. I wouldn't have thought of detecting wooded areas until I started reading about the possibilities here on the forums.
