Hi All.
I just took Mr. Wolf out for his last outing as boss as the E-trac will be arriving soon. Only out for about 45 minutes finding just 1 coin and 1 button (and a bit of trash) - but could this be my first 'Hammered'? :hello2:
I'm thinking maybe Edward VI 1550/53 Base Penny - Positive ID most appreciated but it is quite smooth.
Here's the pic:

Best wishes,
David.

hope to add to these but if i don't get anymore this year then i'm happy with what i've got.

The halfgroat is a good one :icon_thumright:

Congrats on your first hammered! Nice ID by Crusader. Good luck with that ETrac, I hear it is an awesome machine. I like my ML XT70, simple to use and lightweight. I have considered the ML ETrac but just can't justify the $$$ or Pounds, LOL. My best find yesterday was a 1689 milled silver, Medieval is hard ti find around my part. HH, Mike

Well done David,
I can remember my first hammered, a Philip & Mary groat, it was
bent in half and I thought it was a milk bottle top.

Nice, that one I would not predict :icon_thumright: Rare start to the hammered collection.

They are beauties!
I hope my next one comes up with as much detail as yours!

Congratulations on your first. :hello2: The first one is always special, I hope you find many more.

Bravo!

That's one more hammered than I've found. :notworthy:

I was thinking 1 tied me, but then I realized I guess my cobs count.

What do you think of the E-Trac?

Only just got it out of the box! Give me a few days.
Had a quick half hour back in the 'Halfgroat' field - 3 tractors there busy ploughing (real rough plough, the type that breaks your ankles and trips you up if you tried to walk on it) - still working out all the controls and getting used to the new tones.
Came away with one musket ball and a bit of lead. The 'Pinpoint' was dead on with the 'Lobo', not quite as exact with the 'Etrac' but that probably is just my first handling.
Hopefully get a full day with it on Sunday - I'll let you know.

Pinpointing you can iron out, I found the XP to be a nightmare, its taken over 6 months to get the first grab as second nature.

How heavy do you find it? & good luck Sunday

PS. a good test would be that productive Grass field you did, to see if you get deeper finds

Only slightly heavier but it was less than an hours use - I'll get used to it, muscles building up in right arm quite nicely now.
I'm not sure how long that grass has grown again in that field but yes - before the years out I'll get back to it and show you the finds.

Something to bear in mind, if you start doing a lot of detecting, try & learn with you other hand as well. It will unscrew your spine & stop it twisting just the one-way. Helps to stop other issues as well.
