My first actual “old” find! It’s pretty toasted, but I got a large cent!
This site is nothing special but something told me to keep going back. Pretty positive there are more there too. The ground was just to tough to dig with my hand shovel so I need to go back with a bigger shovel!

Nice one. Don't put any water on it, it only makes it worse. Try toothpicking the high spots to get a date or at least to find out what type it is. Congrats!

Congrats! My first “ oldie “ was a V nickel, so you did much better than me!

A big congrats on finding your oldest coin - a day you'll never forget for sure !
They stopped minting Large Cents in 1857.

Be careful - you can easily ruin old Copper coins if you clean them the wrong way !
As I've mentioned to others I gotten very good results cleaning old Copper coins with "Andre's Pencils".
They are very inexpensive and there's some good YouTube video's showing how they bring out detail on coins.

Congrats ! I still remember the first one I found.
