I have not been able to detect much this summer. Too many things going on......

This weekend I decided that I needed a few days to do my thing.
Saturday I hit an old farm that has produced a few nice things in the past, including my first 2-Cent Piece. Not too much there, 1919-S Wheat Cent and a small cuff size Tombac button.
This morning I decided to hit another spot that I have hit a few times before. This time I turned up the sensitivity and really slowed down. Lots of trash here and it is hard to find the good stuff. My third hole of the morning was a faint signal, kinda deep sounding. I dug and from about 6" out popped my first Seated Dime, 1875-CC. Well worn but a beauty!! A few holes later I got another signal that at first sounded like another bullet case. Sooooo, expecting a brass bullet case I was surprised to see this really nice 1864 2-Cent Piece !! This is my third one so far. Cleaned up kinda nice too.
I will for sure be going back to this spot when the weeds die back a little more.

Here are the pics. VPR

2 Center....My Dream Coin.......Congrats....jgas

wow, congrats on those great coins! thanks for the tip on the 2 center I just dug up, I can only hope it cleans up close to yours, thats a beauty! congrats on your first seated dime too!

How did you clean the 2 cent piece? I can't even seem to get my green or brown wheaties to clean very well. I have tried soaking for a couple days in oil, then brushing lightly with a soft toothbrush, I have tried boiling some hydrogen peroxide and dropping the coin in, but this never really seems to work for me.

Awesome finds there congrats love those seated and 2 centers.

Hey Vermontpackrat,

Excellent couple of coins. I'm waiting for that first 2 center, but got lucky enough to find a 1876 CC dime about a month back. Funny that Carson City traveling all the way back across the country to Vermont. Great! :headbang:

I use the hot peroxide soak. The results of this will vary from coin to coin. I also think that it depends on the soil type that the coin was in. Some are better to coins than others :dontknow: I seem to have pretty good luck with the copper arround here.
