I went with vino to the site it all started at. Found a 1861 seated quarter, my first seated anything.
I also found a 1902 Indian head cent, four wheat, a lead seal, and a nice buckle. I'll have more pix later. I was very excited, had a tear in my eye.
Then I licked that coin trying to get as better look.
Thanks George, you put me on another of my first.
Enjoy the pix

Brad

The seated is in very bad shape, but I love her!

Congratulations Brad...I wish i could of recorded your face when i told you it was a seated..Then i told you it was fake!!
Then i wasn't sure..Because i could see the silver showing through..Thats how my came out,But they were able to clean up and they were 6.2 grahms..
I would rather have that one then the ones i have!!!! That one is awsome....
Ps..I cant believe you cried...lol..
George

You ain't seen crying yet, wait till I get that capped bust half!
Thanks George.

WTG, I am surprised that you haven't found more because of how well you do. Congratulations also because of all things you found your first seated and it was a quarter! I've only found one seated dime, but I've found Barber dimes that were dated close to being seated.

I would still count it as a seated. May be the only counterfeit that you will see in a long time.

Probably worth more as a contemporary counterfeit, IMHO. 1861 (no mint mark) is not that valuable of a date in that grade, but the Civil War-era counterfeits are quite popular with collectors.

Nice finds! Congrats on the 1st.

Would you know what these values are? I looked a little bit but could not find any values?

Nice finds! Congrats on the 1st.
Thanks Bandit!

I just weighed it, started wondering after I left for dinner. It started looking plated. It weighs 4.8 Grams should be 6.2200
This was found at a site that there are no reenactments. I'll have to start research for counterfeits.

Thanks Neil

I should ad that it's most likely a contemporary counterfeit (as opposed to a modern facsimile coin), used in commerce at the time and may have even passed off as the real deal.

A ctf. Is just as cool of a find as the real deal. ID be very happy with it.

That's a terrific coin. I'd prefer to find a contemporary counterfeit seated than a genuine seated any day of the week. Its still on my wish list.

Very nice comment, thank you terpfan.

Great find, and an especially interesting once since it's most likely a counterfeit one from that time period!
