Just got back from my bank after depositing $330 in halves and here was the conversation.

ME: I would like to make a deposit.

TELLER: So YOU are the one.

ME: What do you mean?

TELLER: You are the one who brought all those halves last week.

ME: Sorry.

TELLER: Don't be sorry. We went through all your brought in and picked out all the good ones for ourselves.

ME: What did they look like? (I thought I may have missed a few silvers)

TELLER: They had that thingy on the back.

ME: Oh, you mean the bicentennial half?

TELLER: yes!

(I left happy, here is another bank I can increase my weekly drop off amount. They were happy because now they can do some CRH and they don't even know what it is.)

I don't know why their so happy about bicentennial halves, but happy tellers are what you want. Congratulations.

I wonder why they were so happy about the bicentennial's? Am I missing something?

You aren't missing anything. They are just ignorant tellers. They probably think they are rare or something because.

No, I think they are missing something. It does kind of look like a 'thingy'. Well, not mine. Much too big :-\

Any teller who is happy to hoard my rejected bicenntenials is OK by me. :D

You are not missing anything I just didn't give a description of the teller.

1) female (coins are mostly a guy thing - present company excluded lejeuene :))
2) very young, at the most she was 21 (no life experience)
3) not American (by her accent I would guess Vietnamese)

add it all up and she thought they were worth hoarding.

A couple weeks ago I picked up $200.00 in halves, and the teller winked at me and said "You'll be happy with these, an old man brought them in and was sorry he had to." I couldn't wait to get back to the truck and open them, had visions of Walkers and Franklins in my head. Here there were rolls and rolls of bicentennial ones, no silvers. He must have enjoyed collecting them or something. :P

I went to my local bank Saturday morning to get some Washington dollar coins. The teller would only give me four. I handed her 8 half dollars. She asks, "and what are these?" :o

Haha, nice!

I went to Walmart today to buy fruit and the cashier thought the half dollars I was using to pay her were dollars. I should have just not said anything, haha.
