My new winter project

I was looking for a way to speed up my classifying and I came across this do it yourself trommel. It looks like a nice easy build so i thought i would share it with you guys. Now I have a project to keep me busy this winter.

The kings had a great run last year, real impressive to watch. Its to bad that there in a lockout this year.

Now I need a new welder

I'm lucky enough to have a friend who has a small welding company on the go and he's going to give me access to the shop on weekends. More than likely he will give me hand with most of it lol. I'm going to change up the plans a little with my build. The gold around where I live is all flour gold so I'm going to change the barrel on the trommel. I'm going with 1/8 " perferated 16 gauge sheet metal rolled into a 10" barrel. Then I'm going try and squeeze a gold cube underneath to catch all the fine gold. The motor will be a 12 volt of some kind instead of gas and i will use a dial switch to control the speed of the trommel. Im thinking a belt instead of chain drive as well. I'm sure it's going to take a lot of time to get this all built and dialed in, but the winters are long and and cold up here so I will have plenty of time on my hands.

Batteries and solar panels, or my new project, a floating waterwheel generator.

I can't use my dredge( since the State passed the Ban) so I'll re purpose it.
The thing that interested me about the trommel is the gear reduction I need to do the same, in reverse for the waterwheel.
I need to make 2' sprockets for the waterwheel.
I want to use bicycle chain and sprockets.
My waterwheel water pump was a success but too limited to location.
