My oldest coin so far...1600's French Liard

I pulled this at the same site as my CBHD, it's definitely a French Liard. It's quite difficult to see in the photo but at the bottom of the coin are three fleur de lis with (what appears to be) a D in the middle indicating( to the best of my abilities) that this is a 1650's (55-56?)French Liard. The bust is totally worn unfortunately.

Re: My oldest coin so far...

nice old coppa!!! MR TUFF

Re: My oldest coin so far...

Congrats on the old French Liard

Re: My oldest coin so far...

Exactly right. D is the Lyon mint, and the dates listed for that year are 1655,56, & 57, so your coin would most likely be in that range.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but keep in mind a "G" or an "O" are also possibilities.

Re: My oldest coin so far...

Probably the oldest coin for most of the US diggers as well!
Nice find.

Nice job jw15.
I too have found a french liard coin here where I live.
I sent you a e-mail offline. please read.

Congrats on the coin, hopefully you'll find another one. If not
just remember you're now in the 1600's club. Not many can say that.
