Hello my friends...

10/10/2010 Sunday I went with a friend in the neighboring county to about 55 km from me in a location where we've found a few days before the traces of ancient battles fought in medieval times but also high cliffs around lies a pasture where we've found arrows and spears, but also ancient and medieval brooches, pieces of armor of all time...Has appeared a signal on the screen nonferrous metal currency possible gold in Garrett 2500 GTI and depth of 6 inches but I have no hope of digging thought something...I thought it happens every time to find a beer bottle cap and when I saw the side of a glittering ring ... I could not believe I found a gold ring with carnelian seal Roman intaglio engraving that was a scene in depth the battle between mythological characters Hercules and Anteu...

:wav:

It was in perfect condition as if someone placed it there in the ground a few minutes in front of me... :icon_king:
In Romania never found something like that and I still do not believe it 3 days after the discovery... :occasion15:
Before I give the ring specialists took photos that we show with you... :hello2: :hello:

:blob3: :occasion14:

An absolutely beautiful find, must have sounded nice.
You know, ten years ago here in the states we felt for our compatriots abroad, now however, we'd be incarcerated water-boarded and made to sign a confession after release for finding such a thing.
Yeah, who's laughing now.

WoW :o :headbang: :headbang:
That Ring Is Amazing :notworthy:!!!

This is truly one of the best finds I've seen. If you have to turn it over to the government, hopefully it will be available for study and for others to see it. The response here on TNet is proof that more people will be impressed by it. I do hope you are compensated in some way, $$$. In either case, you should be commended for turning it in.
If I had to give that away, I would have a jeweler make a reproduction first.

Amazing find and congratulations!

Let me be the first to say this should be a Banner find, its amazing. Cru'dad found a Bronze version but gold :o :o :o

Do not ever think to find something important and it is very hard for me to believe that this has happened especially as the Crusader says it right ... Thanks very much Cru

No, finds of this Quality are out of the blue & really reminds us why we do this strange hobby :hello2:

That would be a £1000 (easy) Ring in the UK, its easy worthy of publishing in any book on Roman Antiquities :read2:

Saw an antiquities website that sells antiques and the price of a simular item with an Athena intaglio was going for over L5000.

Do you get to keep it? Or do you have to turn it over to the archaeologist in your country???? I hope you get to keep it!!! Amazing !!

In Romania the law requiring you to take him to officials within 72 hours...This I did in fact...

a big congratulations is in order for you! great find and keep at it!

Amazing. I just wonder who's hand that was on? The craftsman that made that was an absolute master. Its freakin flawless. I love history and that era fascinates me. I agree with a prior comment as to the fact that it had to be owned by a governor or legion commander or something along those lines. Or maybe it was the highschool wrestling coach. Anyway, congrats and it really ought to be in some antiquities museum. After your compensated of course.

Astonishing ring, I find myself revisiting the thread over and over again to admire your pictures. While I've heard of Hercules before, I was not familiar with the other mythological character Antaeus. So, I did some quick searching and came up with a bit neat information...

"Who Was Antaeus?:

Antaeus, son of Gaia and Poseidon, was a Libyan giant whose strength appeared invincible. He challenged all passers-by to a wrestling match that he invariably won. Upon winning, he slaughtered his adversaries. That is, until he met Hercules.

Antaeus Challenges Hercules:

Hercules had gone to the garden of the Hesperides for an apple. (The Hesperides, daughters of Night or the Titan Atlas, took care of the garden.) On Hercules' way back, the giant Antaeus challenged the hero to a wrestling match. No matter how many times Hercules threw Antaeus off and tossed him to the ground, it did no good. If anything, the giant appeared rejuvenated from the encounter.
Strength of Antaeus From His Mother Gaia:

Hercules eventually realized that Gaia, the earth, Antaeus' mother, was the source of his strength, so Hercules held the giant aloft until all his power had drained away. After he killed Antaeus, Hercules proceeded safely back to his task master, King Eurystheus."

BTW I'd also like to compliment your lady friend's hands...they look beautiful adorned with your ring :tongue3:

Best of luck with your future hunts, and thank you very much for sharing this adventure!

Mythological scenes story is welcome...I thought this story brings an even greater mystery to the special person who had this charming ring on her finger...
