Well there has been a lot of debate over this stone ball I have gotten. I just wanted to clear some things on it by some books that I have with pictures on these types of artifacts. I wanted to share these because they do look like milling balls and I really dont want somebody to find one and think it is not a artifact and then throw it away or destroy it. I have some examples from 2 different books. The white one of course is for mine and it shows in the pic just like mine with a little bit of damage on it. The others is for Riverman to see that his is a game ball also. You can post yours again River if you like to show to what you have found. Not all game balls are small. Thanks, rock
I did have mine looked at by an expert in artifacts and he said quote, YES it is a game ball.

Nice! I've found a few but they are smaller.

hey rock thanks for posting this, and am i riverman?

yes

Rock, I don't know what your piece is. No clue at all. However, every time I see it, I stop and stare at it. It is for sure something that I would never get rid of if I found it. I can tell you like it as well. That my friend is just fine. If you like it, it's yours, and that us all that matters. Cool piece!

Well the way you can tell the difference between an actual NA stone game ball and a milling ball is the artifact will show no signs of a mold where the milling ball will have a seam on it about 3/4 of the way down which can usually be seen and if not then you can feel it. This doent have a seam on it. It is a perfect ball with no seam. Just like the one in the book I posted for an example.

Rock, that also makes perfect sense. Seems as if you have done the research on this one. Nice piece

I know I should just leave it alone but there are alot made of solid stone. There is no seam on those. I'm not saying that's what you have Rock.... I'm just saying.

I was wondering why no one has any native American clay game balls. Wouldn't that make alot more sence if all you were going to do was roll it around with a stick? Why would you take all that time when all you needed to do was ball up some clay mixed with sand?

Without context who could say?

I have many artifacts I am unsure of but that does not mean they are not real. I found them they look right but they are not worth enough to me to really find out more. But sense your game ball is so neat and probably would be worth some money I would suggest sending it out to be papered by the best and I mean the best authenticator you can find. I think that will give you peace of mind and if you sell it to a customer you can get full value and still make a profit on your purchase or find. Or keep it in your collection.

Thanks everyone, well almost everyone. I have taken this one too 2 different people at 2 different times at too 2 different places and have gotten the same results on the answer. And the answer was.....YES it is a Game Ball. I didnt tell either one what I was thinking on it because I didnt want to influence their impression on this piece. And you could actually make that 3 times if you count the person that sold it to me. I truly love it but it is Christmas and I might of SOLD it. We will see and if so I am sure it will go to a happy home. Thanks, rock.....
