Here are some of my most recent findings. Not sure how to Classify the different colors of quartz? I think I have Smokey quartz, milky quartz, rock quartz, Rose quartz, and Citrine? Idk thou? What do u think? And I have been doing some research at the library and I can find any pic that look like my quartz texture or matrix so to speak? These all came from the same location, some from the stream and some from the hillside.

Smokey quartz is a brownish color - due to irradiation.
The top left pic seems to be a smoky quartz.

Milky quartz is just plain white quartz.
Top right pic looks like it.

Citrine is a tricky one, it gets its colour from Fe3+ I think.
Basically its a heated amethyst, heated naturally or by man.
Often ammys are not to far away, which might serve as an indicator.

I see a lot of your minerals have a rusty look.
See in the shop if you can't find "super iron out."
I know a couple of yanks who swear by that stuff to clean off their specimens.

Also, I noticed these two pics:

The large mica flakes might suggest your on to something interesting, pegmatite.
I suppose those where from the hillside?

Bring your camera out in the field if you can. Maybe we can help to find interesting places to look.
(or at least speculate on it!):coffee2:

Morning & Great Finds.. Approx 80% of what you've posted is weathered (orangedish) ill formed quartz. However now all bad news.. I do see some Topaz, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Smokey and Mica.. It's very common to find the orangish quartz everywhere..

Well i like quartz also and those are some nice examples rite there. Now I have to ask you....do you look for Arrowheads while you are enjoying your rock hobby? I find some nice scrapers and some broken so far on the Arrowheads but still nice to find them. The reason I ask is the top row middle piece of quartz looks to be a worked item and I believe it is a scraper. I would like to see both sides of it and straight on if you can. I have some to show you if you dont mind. They are quartz. Let me know if it is alright to post them on your thread. I dont want to do it without your ok. Thanks, rock
