Inspired by RelicDude's expeditions in the water, I took advantage of the drought conditions on my Western NY vacation and hit a couple rivers. The first one, while I could see was very dumpy on the river bank and would've made for excellent digging, was unfortunately in a well frequented park and so I could only wade in the water and pick out things from the bricks and sand. I didn't find much, the notables being a nice Hero Mason's Improved Ground Lip Jar and a massive Demijohn top. View attachment 1346316View attachment 1346317View attachment 1346319

The next river was a major success. I found a pretty concentrated area and did some work in chest deep water to pick out bottles from the river bed. Best find was an unlisted hutch from around here (I'll be contacting Ron later). The milk bottle may be valuable too, people collect them like crazy up here. Otherwise just got some odds and ends like a bromo and tea saucer. View attachment 1346323View attachment 1346326

I'm tempted to bring a mask next time to pick up the ones I missed in the deep water, but I'm somewhat reluctant to get my head wet in this section as there's a nasty outflow pouring Lord knows what into the river. Anyway, I'll be going back soon as I can to check the river and scrape around on the edges to check if my finds were spillover from a land dump. Thanks for looking!

Wishing you continued success. Don't get that nasty water in your eyes, mouth or nose.

sounds good, but the pics dont seem to be loading, at least for me.

Well shoot, I was afraid that would happen. Internet problems on vacation. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1470956790.099771.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1470956806.698970.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1470956818.480341.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1470956831.714385.webp

Great finds, and on vacation too! I might just have to get 'inspired' and hit up some water!

Holy Cow!!! That broken top is the largest I have ever seen! Nice finds all the way around.

Thanks, and it's the biggest I've seen too, except for one that another user, johnglassman, posted a little while ago. Not sure which one is biggest.

Great hutch...

Wow. The top looks like it comes from a 25 gallon jug! Amazing!:thumb_up:

The diameter is 10 inches around neck the top is 12 inches diameter!

Supersize my order, lol

Oh dude that is awesome I wish I could find an old glass Mason jar and the hutch is killer. When the rivers are low there a treasure trove. We're you in the Sandy slow areas?

Slow yes, not exactly sandy in either river I hunted. The first one was loaded with rocks and bricks, the second one a mix of sand and mud.

yeah them are really cool
