A few weeks ago I posted my very first Continental Army USA button. We went back to the property and lightening struck for the second time. The first one I found a few weeks ago was a Large Size USA button in great condition. The second one is a Small Size variety.

The second one was found in an almost identical situation as the first. I found it dead center under a tree root with my XP Deus. I was running my Pitch program and got the faintest signal. I knew it sounded good and about 8 inches down under the root I found my second USA button in the past few weeks. Sadly, it's in very poor condition, as pewter buttons for the most part don't hold up well, but I'm still on Cloud 9. It's my second USA button and I now have two distinct varieties! 118702107_10217727587885053_8763200344659289517_o.webp118702094_10217731055371738_2140888878935690956_n.webp118457640_10217734065206982_6222858242533236153_n.webp118703850_10217734066207007_5778514840047089380_n.webp

Well you got one nice one and another that is more par for the course. But as long as you're digging them, you're on the right dirt. Here is my one an only. Another par for the course one....

I think yours is a birdie instead of a par for the course. That's a nice button and it's historic. Is it a French Contract button? I don't think it is but I can't make up my mind. The "US" looks similar but I don't think the "A" is completely detached from the "US."

Thanks. Mine was found in Leetown, WV within a half mile of General Charles Lee's house.

Absolutely! We have already been back to the site but haven't found another one yet. We will be hitting it again this weekend.

Neat. Congratulations on the historical finds and good luck finding more!

Beautiful buttons Cannonball. It looks like you have at least two and, maybe, three different varieties.
