I got out today, with a new hunting partner and fellow Tneter. Pa Slueth.
We had a great day, we found this spot together. A 1793 home site that sits on a great piece of land.
It was a relic hunters dream.
Started off with some buttons, my favorite Blow hole, then found some shoe buckle frames. Then dug a 1820 LC, some wheats and a 1862 Fatty IH. Then I headed over to a spot in the tree line. Found my first sling buckle, then another, then the adjuster. I said man there has to be a plate around here somewhere????
I called Slueth over and told him what I found and asked him to help me find it.. Not 10min later I get a slamming signal. And said this is it or a soda can..lol
I flip the plug and out came the plate.
The Eagle was just staring at me.
I screamed like a girl and started doing the happy dance..
Man, that was a great feeling!
You never find what your looking for!
This is definitely a day I will remember for a long while. We will be definitely going back to see what else we left..
I will let him show you what he found..
Thanks for looking.
George

While Vino scored huge on this hunt with some epic finds, I had an equally awesome time making an new friend in the hobby. I appreciate Vino's hospitality allowing a less experienced detectorist to tag along. The best part of the day is when I got to witness Vino dance around like Kevin Bacon in Footloose upon finding that belt plate. For those of you who are interested, I am going to post my haul under a new thread. Vino, thanks again

Thanks Sleuth,
I bet that was a site to see???
It was great meeting you also.
But let me ask, do I put Kevin to shame? Haha.

great finds!!! you da man!

the keys do it for me

Congratulations on the great finds.

It's hard to tell exactly but the figure-eight buckle you found that is bent up is most likely a Revolutionary War Sword Buckle. I'm scratching my head on the size but she's close. I can assure you that theses buckles are a lot rarer to find than the CW style sword belt plates. So.... you may have have actually found two buckles. Way to go!

Thanks Brad and welcome to the forum. Looks like you will be a great asset on here. Look forward to your posts.

Wow, great finds. Love the Sword belt buckle. I've got one too, and like yours, mine is missing the silver wreaths that would have been to the left and right sides. You can see where they were. Complete buckles like this are extremely uncommon. Maybe they're still waiting for you?

Thanks Kray,
Im sure hoping I can find them when I go back! Congrats on yours as well.

A day like that does not get much better. All the finds were good and the plate is the icing on the cake. Way to go and keep after the plate. She is a beauty. I also like the old key ring. If those finds could talk.
