That may be a good thing. She appreciates and loves the jewelry I find and I'm her hero. But if she detected then for one reason or another we would argue about it.

My wife could care less if I dug up a coin that was hammered by god himself!! I also enjoy the time alone and away every once in a while. The important thing is that she doesnt mind me going out as often as I do. 8)

My wife has no interest in td'ing but she doesn't mind, when I go out, not that it would matter I told her when we got married I am a bit of a loner and need my space sometimes. She likes it that I don't run around, get drunk in bars or do something she would be ashamed for the neighbors to know. Like coming home drunk at 3 in the morning with police escort. (a friend of mine did that and his wife definitely was not amused.)LOL. Wife does have a rule I hate though, all rings she gets to screen and keeps the ones she likes. My family thinks I'm very dorky for metal detecting. My husband has his own ACE now so he does come with me sometimes but doesn't last too long. I enjoy the solitude on my solo hunts though.

My wife now detects and it can get expensive! Maybe I should have left her at home. I would rather have her with me as she does enjoy it and usually comes home with more than me. Again, maybe I should have left her home. As for the dork factor, her family thinks were dorks but bought me a cover, gel knee pads and a Minelab hat for my birthday. I told them I just got my plaid shorts, black socks and open toe sandals. My family thinks it's cool and Mom wants to hunt with me with the old detector she found at a yard sale. I wish I cared what others thought but I wouldn't have gotten this far in life listening to others. Maybe it's just my upbringing of not trying for the status quo. Life isn't boring if you decide to live it your way. Mom always said" If you're bored, you're boring." It's your life and no need to explain anything to anybody.
