Mystery brass

It's brass and hollow like a pipe. Found at a site dating to late 1700s but is definitely newer than that. Any ideas? Thought it was some sort of decorative railing until I discovered its hollow. Has some threading visible at broken end pictured.

I would say it's off a pivoting arm lamp.

It could be, and it could be a swing arm from some other type of fixture not necessarily a lamp.

Good call! It has no wire left inside and would of been hard to pull out. I wonder if it was a gas variety.

I think you're correct in it being a gas lamp, here's one from eBay that looks very similar.

I also noticed that in your photo in the yellow plastic box below something that looks like it could be the broken off burner section, or maybe not just looks like it would fit.

Incredibly well solved. I'm not sure how to mark this one solved. Using phone app. I wouldn't use that ebay lamp lol explosion in the making :)
