mystery coin?

same size as a 50 cent piece but is smooth around the edge, had it soaking in water over night an notice today around the edge seems to be peeling up so I am guessing it is coated by a diffrent metal then what the rest of it is. can't really tell much about the weigh with all the sand an shells stuck to it,I know its not old but would like to find out what it is, just trying to figure out how to clean it. The 44 wheat was found in a coin spill of zinc pennies, the 50 cal. shell is my 3rd 1 to date.

Hi,,, To clean your Mistery Coin,, soak it in VINEGAR,,, if it fizzes that should take most of the lime deposit off the coin. I am betting it is a silver spanish coin,,, some where in the 1700 era. Silver will some times have spots that corrode as the "peeling" looks like. You can also soak it in Hoppe's No.9 (GUN Barrel BORE cleaner) willl take copper corrosion (GREEN surface deposit) off. Hope this is of some help.
