I agree with U.B. It is a saddle. Still a dime store quality ring, but from the age of the cowboys, like Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. Cool find. Keep swingin.
Cool ring. It would be even cooler if you've found a memento of your uncle. There's no particular significance associated with saddle rings part from being generally evocative of the 'wild west'. Yours appears to be a less sophisticated version of this... which is vintage Navajo silver:
