Mystery tool-like relic

This brass relic which seems to be a tool of some type, was found near an old homestead occupied from late 1700's to mid-late 1800's. It has two thin "wings" that used to fold back into slots in the body. The "shaft" section is triangular in cross-section; likely to strengthen the shaft against bending. The far end has a piece of iron in it. The only guesses my son has had on it are either a feeler gauge or a gun tool. I prefer to lean towards a gun tool of some type, but really no idea.. (Found by my son many years ago)

Looking at gun combo tools, I think it is much closer to looking like that than a divider, I don't see any broken parts, the blades appear worn and the triangle end is surely looking like a screwdriver bit. Been googling gun combo tools and just have not found an exact match, but most shown on the sites I saw were mid 1800s, so perhaps this is a much older version for some type of older rifle.

Navigation tool, Medical tool, blades on side for blood letting: maybe an old horse tool. Drafting tool like divides, etc. can not really tell from the pics.
