I will say from experience and having grown up and lived here all my life:

Jersey is most certainly not "very" liberal. I would say it is probably something closer to 55% liberal vs 45% conservative (possibly even closer to 50/50) with MOST common everyday folks being smack in the middle.

The area where I live flies the Confederate flag. I know of several areas where you can see signs talking about "tyrranical Govt", etc etc... I see Tea Party signs, stickers, Dont Tread on Me stickers, Tea Party demonstrations in at least 2 different areas (an hour apart), etc. Ugh, I have even seen Infowars stickers plastered on Stop signs. The other day I saw a guy driving around in a pickup truck with all kinds of vapid anti-Obama speech written on the tailgate. I could go on and on.

Hey Ben, i tried to tell'em that but, they've got their surveys. And of course that makes them right!

Wonder if the surveys included Pineys?

The sticker on my friend's truck - I'm a Piney from my head to my hiney.

Although not a Piney by blood, based on where I just moved to I would be a Piney too!

I live in suburbia, but have a good friend who lives at Mt Misery. Can't get much more Piney than that!

I love the Pines!!!! What a great place!!

Strange since multiple polls including gallup say NJ is not just liberal but in top 10 most liberal, even wiki lists it so..

Doesn't bother me in the least. Just want to know if I quote a poll in the future if it will be believed or not?

Not quoting "a" poll, talking about many different references, do a goggle search using NJ and liberal state as key words and see what appears......

No big deal though so as I mentioned forget it...

Wow, one of the ten most liberal states! And yet we have republican governor? How is that?

I guess there is much interpretation to just what is liberal.

Al, you were baiting me? Speaking of fishing, how's that going for you this spring? LOL!!!!!

I just want someone to pump my gas. lol. I don't think I've seen that since the 1990's.

As for the bills, I think they have a few good points, but mostly bad. Toughening penalties for criminals caught with guns, good. Requiring proof of firearms training, good. Banning .50 cal rifles, not good. Encoding a driver's license, not good.

diggummup, we all have our tin foil hat issues. One of mine is Real ID. Which those who educate themselves will learn is a REAL PROBLEM. Ultimately a much bigger threat to our freedom than anything posted in these threads.

To that point- Part of the original Real ID law, a part that was changed, was the embedding of chips in driver's licenses. It was left out of the original bill due to civil rights concerns. With passage of this bill the trip down the embedded chip slippery slope begins.

But we now know why some think they are middle of the road politically! They are surrounded by extreme leftists and a few Dems that claim to be Republicans! Of which Christie is a great example. Notice how Christies campaign funds are starting to get a LOT of money from Democrat donors?

Dig -nothing good can come from what these KNUCKLEHEADS passed!
Motor Vec. agencies have some shady dudes working there.
Encoding one's driver's license will be a nightmare.
Motor vec. employees here in N.J have been caught in the past
doing some illegal activates concerning registrations and drivers licenses.

If this stuff can cut down on identity theft, fraud etc etc is it that bad? I was a little nervous when I first got my fast lane turnpike device for the tolls. Thought the gov would be sending me speeding tickets every week. I got over it.

Christie is the repubs best hope for 2016. Agree, he needs to lose a lot of weight. Which he'll do right after he wins the primary when he cuts off the entire conservative extremist wing. Lighter, he will be more able to make his pitch to move this country forward. He can more than make up for losing those votes by appealing to just left of center dems. His abilty to work across party lines to get the job done is proven here in NJ. Finally, this country will move forward rather than being mired down by the extreme right.

If Christie is the Repubs best hope the party needs to be done away with. The Repubs started by being the new party, but have been infected over the last 100 years. But then, even JFK would quit the current Dem party.

Problem is that he will have to act like a right wing extremist nut job to win the primary. Same thing happen to Romney. He was a fiscal conservative / social moderate but had to act extreme to win the repub primary as everyone criticized him for not being conservative enough. He won the primary but lost the moderate vote. He could have easily won the presidency if he didnt have to change his beliefs to win the primary. Sad but true. As long as the party is dominated by extremists we will not take back the presidency.
