Hello everyone, :hello:

I bought this Bird Point at a local antique shop for $5.00 (Five Dollars USD). :icon_scratch: I'm sure it came from the Finger Lakes in Upstate NY. I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it ?? :dontknow: Did I get a deal or did I get robbed ?? ??? Anyone know its age or anything ? :dontknow:

(Silver Canadian Dime For Size) Thanks for looking !! :notworthy:

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

I'm not real sure but it has the look of a Palmer, at least to me and I have one I found that is very similar. If it is, then it would be early Archaic 8000 to 7200 BCE. I don't know about the price or value. It's very pretty!

Looks legit, early archaic shallow side-notch, nice dart-point...fair trade, although you can find them cheaper.

Thanks guys, :notworthy:

I bought it to connect with the local spirits, :icon_scratch: I hope it works !! :occasion14:

We used to have a guy that hunted up state NY. The material he showed was a black flint similar to yours. If the point was perfect looking I would be suspect but it looks field grade and good to me. $5.00 well spent. Happy connecting!

Id say Archaic period also by the flaking at the base just above the notches. $5 wasn't bad at all. Probably worth $10

Nice little point, and I agree it is probably an early archaic piece. It even looks to have alternate blade beveling on each edge, and I would suspect the base to be ground. Not sure what "types" occur in upper NY State with those characteristics, but hopefully someone here will offer up some possibilities. If I had found it, I would not want to let it go for $5.
Keep it in your left pocket while out hunting and detecting. Take it out several times during the hunt and rub it gently and respectfully, while gazing out upon your hunting grounds. Follow the little voices in your head and heart, and it will help lead to the treasures you seek. HH
