Great question ArfieBoy.. What we do is boil them for about 3-5 minutes, drain and boil again for 3 minutes mainly to get the Tannins out (tannins will upset the stomach). Then fry them with garlic & butter for a few minutes and yes they have a good taste on their own like the light taste of asparagus...

Detecting in the woods once.
Came across a healthy patch of Fiddle heads.
I was hungry, ate 6 nice size ones.
It was a great spring cleanse I will just say that.
