Navy Button in Kentucky

I found this button at my favorite hunting place where I have found a lot of civil war Era relics. At a loss for why a Navy Button is there though

Is it a homesite? Also what region of KY, I'm located in Kentucky and I just wanted to see if you were close to me.

A former owner might have served in the Navy and brought it back, later lost. Just an idea.

Ah, I'm in Ashland, Ky in Boyd county

It's possible. This house has also given up a Louisiana state seal confederate button.

I'm thinking the owner has served seems very possible.

Very cool find! I too have found several Civil War Naval buttons in my neck of the woods....hard to come by.
