To whomever would like to lend some guidance,

I live in Bunn, NC and have just bought my first sluice box. I'm getting into this as a hobby, but obviously with the intention of finding some gold. I know if takes a lot of work and effort to find anything or to become proficient at the process, but I wanted to see if some folks out there could share some tips on what to look for or areas in the Franklin/Nash counties to check out. I have a fairly large piece of property with a creek throughout the back property line and figure it would be a good place to start, but not sure due to lack of knowledge. I've seen a lot of quartz rock and heard that is a good sign, but didn't know how true that is.

Anyways, thanks in advance for any information anyone is willing to provide.

first off, welcome to Tnet

you ought to ask in the prospecting forum or North carolina forum

@jeff-gordon alright I will try to find that page and post the same question.

appreciate it.

Take a drive to the woodrun trailhead of 24/27 in montgomery county, follow the road in until you come across your first trail after crossing the creek. Shortly after that you'll come up to woodrun creek, there is gold right there in that crossing point. There are some points of the creek that have nothing, others its everywhere.. plenty of space for you to get your feet wet and learn how to prospect. Pans / Sluices / Shovels ONLY nothing else, no hand sucker either. Watch out for the snakes. Best of Luck!

@Golden_Crab Appreciate the information. I'll have to plan a weekend camping trip out that way this spring to play around.
