Folks, I had a very good day today out in the NC woods. I had a dream last night that I dug a CW belt plate. Well, I didn't find a belt plate today, but I did find enough lead to make one. I tucked my pant legs into my socks, sprayed myself down with Deet, and headed out into the woods. I'm working a wooded area behind where the new road is going in. There is a big stream here, and many dried up streams/creeks throughout the 200+ acre woods. Basically, a great spot for a CW camp. This area so far has turned up belt keepers, knapsack hooks & snaps, asst'd CW bullets, bullet lead chunks, a no date SLQ, a 1902 IH, and a few buttons.
Wondering around, I decided to follow a 4-wheeler trail through the woods since it was clear and the surface was compacted. That soon ended with a large tree covering the path. I decided to head left, and I'm glad I did. I got a signal out in the middle of nowhere.
I was happy to dig a 3-ringer, but that was just the beginning!!! As you can see in my videos, the bullets didn't stop until I found 14 in the same 4' area!!! I couldn't believe it! :o This is the most bullets I've EVER dug in one spot, and the most in any hunt. Yeah, Baby!!! ;D I must of dug at least 40 shotgun shell heads and rifle casings too out there today. :(
Here's my videos. Thank God I had my camera with me this time!!! :tongue3:

A few days ago, I found two other 3-ringers and a nice button.
The button has a "Robinson & Co. - Extra" backmark. Circa 1820's-1830's.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Yeah...yer a lucky one alright. Lucky in that with all that snortin' and heavy breathing, you didn't attract every female deer around for miles! ;D
:D Jes kiddin! Had to comment on the breathing thing though!~ :icon_jokercolor:

Super dooper finds and the videos are the bomb, MM! Love it when you do the videos! :icon_pirat:

That was hilarious!!! My kind of humor for sure. No wonder all those does kept coming right up to me. I thought they just wanted some heavy petting. :icon_scratch: ;D
I really enjoy making the MD videos. Now if I can just remember not to huff & puff and say "uh" & "anyways" too much.
Thanks Nana,
Doug
(If you add an "H", I'd be a "Dough" too. Hmmmmmm)

nice finds Doug!

just saying hello from down Interstate 40 ;D

Pretty Cool Doug. You are a real man to brave those ticks. ;D

That is a sweet spill of bullets. There has got to be some other good civil war stuff in that area. Good luck.

Bob

Wow, what a great post, Congratulations .

Great Job Doug! It feels good doesn't it! Pulling that many bullets from one hole is one awesome thrill. The video was great too buddy! In another 10 year (or less) I think it will be very hard to find pockets such as this and the one that I found a couple months ago... Terrific find and great day of hunting!
