not much to report today, in about an hours time i came up with 4.03 in clad
been hard to detect lately its been raining or shoud say down pouring most of the time

But with todays finds im just 9 coins shy of 500,now i am not as good as some of the
BIG DOGS on here yet so i have'nt had any 100 coin days yet, so 500 is a nice milestone for me
i've only been hunting for a month so i guess im doin decent

any way thats all from me just thought i'd share my approaching milestone
and soon hopefully one of those coins won't be clad

HH everyone

Nice going. Quality is better than quanity. I would rather find 1 Mercury dime than 200 clad coins.

Hey, if you keep up that rate you will have about 4000 by New Years day. That's not bad at all. Keep up the good work!

Hi Chris...yep, your doing a heck of lot better than I did my first month, so keep up the hard work and all the rewards will come. I have been detecting over 30 years but not since the 80's have I hit it so hard. I can thank TNet for that. Reading and sharing here keeps me super motivated and inspired.

Good luck buddy! Keep it up!

Smiles!

Chris, congrats on your upcoming milestone. As BDoo said, this place can keep you motivated to keep going out.

Keep up the persistence! At the present rate it looks like you'll hit the 1,000 milestone before the end of the year (probably much more than that).

I never hit over 1,000 coins in any one year but this year is an exception and I'll tell you why...

I use different techniques depending on the dig site. I've quicken my pace and expanded my range of swing at most schools and parks. Detectorists have different measurements of success. At risk of taking much heat on the subject, I'd rather dig 100 clad coins than one common silver. I need constant positive reinforcement in terms of action than spending hours and digging only deep targets that are fewer and require deep concentration on the audibles.

We West coasters do not have the luxury of finding early dated (pre 1830) coinage due to the difference in histories (people migrations). Many of the parks and schools here have been hunted to death for silver in the 1-6" depth range.

I typically use a 6" coil in trashy areas and do not get the depth required to find the remaining deepies even if I use my expert settings and I will not use a 10+ coil in those areas.

Of course the exception is reversed at selected sites on the east coast. If I thought a site was untouched and with good prospects, I'd slow down and listen to everything with little or no descrimination.

My primary objective is to concentrate on lost jewelry which typically would command higher returns in resale.

Hey Chris,

Not all of us can get out every day. I can because I'm retired, therefore my finds are in direct proportion to how much time and effort I want to put into it. I'm not so much interested in digging the deep silver (maybe after the novelty wears off, I've only been doing this since the end of March). Five hundred isn't bad. Here's my clad finds by month...as you can see once the weather got nicer I got out more...the dollars don't seem to be so great due to so many darn pennies (parents need to give their kids more dimes and quarters). March $3.20 - 66 coins. April $8.20 - 184 coins. May $54.18 - 1061 coins. June thru the 9th $21.24 - 437 coins. A grand total of $86.91 - 1748 coins. And, I probably spent $200 on gas and another $50 on burgers on the road. Its the gold necklace, gold wedding band, silver earrings and silver necklaces that make it all worthwhile. I'm still waiting for diamonds and rubies...maybe once the people start gathering at the beaches more (it's still kinda cool here in Michigan, water temp in the 40's and 50's).

Good luck.

Good goin' Chris, nice goal of 500..
Thats a lot of holes and sore knees.....

Keep safe...
