Detector(s) used
Garrett AT Pro w/stock 5"x8" coil, NEL Snake 3.5"x6.5" coil and NEL Hunter 12.5"x8.5" coil.
Shadow X2 with 4" (coin sniffer in trash), 7" and 9" coil.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I found this a couple of weeks ago on my day off. It's about 24" long by 10" high.
Does anyone have any info on it or want to guess how old it is? :icon_scratch:

It read good and deep with my Vaquero, so I kept digging.
I was hoping for a deep Morgan Dollar, but after 12 or so inches, my hopes diminished.
I dug up to my elbow and bam!
I hit something and I could see that it was blue and had white letters on it.
I spent an hour getting this thing out of the ground. It was about 3' deep and all I had was my trusty Lesche digging tool.
Luckily, it was very shaded and had soft sandy soil.

I was pretty tired after that, so I ate lunch and hit another lot I had been wanting to hunt.
It payed off!
1936 Wheatie, Sterling Cross, Sterling band and a fake ring...that almost gave me a heart attack when I saw it in the hole! :tard:

Nice finds ! The sign looks to be porcelain. Collectible, even if a little rough around the edges.

That's something you don't dig up everyday, the sign I mean. The mariners cross and the other stuff is cool too

Looks like one of those signs that mounted over the door of the business! so people that where walking down the walk could see it, I'd say the early half of the 1900's

Hey Nuttdriver.
That is an admirable find, of the sign and the other treasures.
The sign looks like quite thick enamel on 'tin'

I Googled 'Star tobacco' - as you do :read2:
I am a 6 months non-smoker, so I look at the following interesting link I found with a now biased eye and 2 lungs still

Also, I wonder how unique is that sailors' crucifix?

That is a real interesting find. Congrats on the patience to keep digging!

I dug and dug once on a target like that but it ended up being the bottom panel to a stove. It was two feet by 1 and a half feet. Weirdest thing. Reminds me of that guy last year who dug up the rotary lawn mower!!

Awesome finds!!
