Need a an excuse for a day off work to detect suggestions please

No, it's better to tell the truth. When I need a day off for hunting, I just tell my boss that. He's understanding, so that makes it easier, but no one's ever had a problem with as long as I let everyone know early.

I am also a Boss...and I agree...be honest.

If you have vacation time or sick time...just say I am taking a day to get away.

Only problem is, I hate when people pull that at the last minute...plan it a week ahead of time.

Try this , put all your detecting gear in your vehicle , buy a can of copenhagen , when you get to work put a big dip of snuff in your mouth & swallow it . They will send you home pronto . You should be able to starting detecting about noon .

I would re-comend to be honest, and tell your boss you need a day off. I can say that now because I am retired. Now all I have to do is call my wife of44 yrs up on my cell phone and ask her. So far it works she just says yes GO GO GO and take the dog with you . This way I am doing my hobby and she is doing hers which is painting in her art room. Some days she even goes with me as she coin hunts once in a while. But after her having 5 back surgery's I go mostly by meself.

I havent called in sick for over 7 years (I have taken personal days with notice though).

Right now my MD is really, really sick -sent it back to Garrett yesterday to get fixed. It has been down and out since Christmas and I was pretty lazy about sending it back.

However, when my precious ACE returns to me, I will probably have to revisit this thread because I am in serous withdrawl right now.

Id agree with af1733, diaria is a good way to go. Where im from if you say you want a lil time off or a personal day, chances are you wont get it. With diaria, they wont ask too much and cause it can be contagious an dangerous, they will probably be happy you took the day off. Just dont get spotted! lol

My dog swallowed my car keys and then ran off into the woods. He came back an hour later. I took him to the Vet, but the Xray showed nothing! He must have taken a dump or barffed them up while he was off in the woods. It's a good thing I own a metal detector, because it may take all day to find my keys. Wish me luck and hopefully I will be there in the morning!

Thanks for the advice everyone some really orginal excuses there and the Winner was personal and the site was it worth it 200+ fishing weights and counting + 29 coins and counting.
