🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Need a identification

Need help with any information I dug this today at a site that had a 1600s spectacle button some 1797 coins and anything from then to now this was found near a 1881 indian head penny but not necessarily tied to it I believe it may have been a cuff link but not sure I believe they go together thank you

No question it is a cufflink. Best guess... Turn of the 20th C, give or take a few decades - child eating watermelon.

Wouldn't disagree with the dating... but it looks to me like a Japanese geisha wearing a kimono, and the crescent is just ornamentation.

That certainly is a possibility. Although, traditionally, Japanese women cover their smiles with the hand. I will admit the "watermelon" looks more like ornamentation. It was just my first impression...
