Need confirmation on ID

I'm new to this....I live in northern CA and before I send anything for analysis, I thought I'd give this a try before going to too much more trouble.

Impossible to tell from that pix.Take one of those rocks turn it into sand, with a hammer,and pan it .

How did you get them form black to the color shown in picture ??

Were these found near Mt. Shasta?
I seem to recall someone posting similar looking rocks last year from that area.

What do you suspect they are made of?
