Need help converting Whites!!

I have a whites 3900 coinmaster. I want to make the operating frequency higher. I know i can buy a variable oscillator, but will i have to change the winding in the coil or build my own. thanks Any information will be appreciated.

I don't recall, but the 3900 coil may be tuned for 6kHz, so you may not be able to use it at any other frequency. You could use a wideband coil like on the MXT/DFX. Then, the oscillator would need to be altered, and the preamp and demods would need modification. It's a pretty tall job if you're not good with electronics.
