Need help dating Sanforized button

I dug this "Sanforized" button today in the backyard of a home built in the mid 1940's; however, prior to that the land was a farm dating back to the turn of the century. Does anyone know what general time frame this script style is from? Also, would this have been on overalls or could it have been a shirt button? It is relatively small. Thanks in advance for your help.

According to a quick Google search Sanfordized denim came about in 1930 as a process to produce denim clothing without it shrinking during manufacturing. The 1940s build date of the house neatly fits. Your button looks (to me) like an original Sanfordized pants button from the 1930s

I agree on the timeframe. I note that part of the back is missing, and think it was a snap type rather than a rivet type, which fits well with the size being a bit smaller.
