I am new here refered up here from another forum that has very little activity. I dug the checkerboard pattern button yesterday and the colonial style button today in the rain bout 6pm eastern time u.s.. The colonial button still has thread which amazed me and when water touched it that gold or brass color shined through. It has only rings I see on back no back mark. the other checker board button is two piece it to is brass or gold but back catches or hook loops must be iron , it is very rusted and I cant possibly see back to veiw a backmark. I dont wanna do electrolosis to it cause patena and gold plate or brass will be harmed. I used hot peroxide bath on coffee warmer as I do all my buttons but no luck. so I have the back of it soaking in apple cider vinegar to losen rust like I do my iron relics, but only the back as not to harm face. The colonial style button I aint doing nothing to it. my question on these buttons is possible date? what they are? Value? That a boy? Trash? etc.
