Need help identifying?

I've showed friends that have experience in identifying but this one has yet to be determined. One said it looked like coral, it's has some weight to it. It was about 50 yards up a creek that feeds into MO river. Any ideas? Modern, artifact?

It could be fossil coral, but some of the holes look like bubbles which can also indicate slag or cement. I don't think it's an ancient artifact.
