I recently detected an old Mill site, where our areas first local settlers occupied. It was an exciting little adventure.

If you notice amongst the artifacts that were found, are some teeth. Are they human? Indeed, they are.

I'm trying to identify the star shaped thingamajiger. My first initial thoughts was a horse rosette, but I doubt it because of the jaggedness.

From what I have researched it has 16 points making it known as a Brunswick star or a compass rose.

It is about 2inch. in circumference.

Any guess would be helpful.

If you'd like to see the adventure check out the video.

A lot of the items look furniture related so it might have been some type of adornment for furniture.

Thx Back-of-the-boat
A few Connecticut coppers were found at the same location on a previous hunt.
The top metal item in the photo was identified as a musket gun part.
The large tac I would imagine were from saddles & or for large cargo boxes in reference of the mill.
I definitely agree that it could be possibly a furniture part. It is very ornate & one took the time to create it. :weather_sun:

YES sir Thxs Crashbandicoot in researching I also found a 16 pointed star is in reference of a nautical compass.
Just a thought I had,I,m a big map and compass guy, been using them since I was a kid before GPS. Your star has all the compass points,so,I guessed. Nice haul of stuff you made,I,d go back there for sure.Good luck!

I like to believe that it is an early 18th century Nautical medal for a hat or uniform. Thxs again for the insight. :occasion14:

I will try to. Thank you for the recommendation. It's as big as a silver half-dollar if not slightly bigger
