This button has stumped me for weeks and I'm looking for some insight as to what is engraved on the front, is it military, and how old it could possibly be. The button itself is very small, so I'm guessing its a cuff button.
On the front: something is engraved in the middle but it looks like there could be a wreath around the outside
On the back it says orange london with a floral design separating the two words and under the shank it says fine. I have looked for weeks tying to find a button similar but have not succeeded, it would be much appreciative if I could get somebody else's opinion. Thanks.

It is what button collectors call a brass 1-piece "flower button." It was made for use on fancy Civilian clothing, not Military uniforms. If that type of brass 1-piece button has a backmark written in "indented" lettering (instead of "raised" lettering), it dates from about 1810 through the late-1830s/early-1840s. The backmark saying "London" means it was made in Britain, so it was most probably imported from there during the 1810s/20s, when the infant US button-making industry was unable to mass-produce enough buttons to satisfy the demand-level from the clothing industry.

The word "orange" in your button's backmark refers to the color of the goldplating on its front. There is probably another word besides "fine" next to the loop... "gilt."
