I was thinking that's what it is. Thanks!!

Yes, someone will give a much better ID, but the size will help & weight? I'm sure its 16?? which is the period of Spanish Silver I would love to find over here!

I can see the 64 where the date is. 1664??

Does anyone know the best way to clean it? I didn't rub the dirt in the field so I didn't scratch it. I just want to make sure I clean it right. Thanks!

That's definitely it. It's about the same area size of a nickel.

Warm soapy water and light brushing with a soft bristled toothbrush and you'll be fine.

The funny part of the story is I have been using the AT Gold for 2 years. I just bought the XP Deus and picked it up in the morning at Ups. So the XP was sitting in my truck in a box and the AT gold found it....

Sites count WAY more than what detector!

I agree 100% I have a museum with the stuff my AT Gold has found me...

Just wait to see what the XP does, I can tell you that if you have the sites the XP will double your takings, specially when you understand it all.

COVER ALL YOUR HUNTED OUT SITES!

Weight is an easy way to determine the denomination of a cob coin
Use 27 grams for the 8R and proportions thereof for the 4R, 2R, 1R and 1/2 R.

Cleaning it depends on how you want it to look, if you want the as dug condition then just water rinse, if you want the detail to show then there are other ways to show this....nice find, I to would like to find one, but not much chance were I'm at, although they have been dug over here.

Electrolysis will clean the coin, but you need to be careful in the process that you don't toast the coin.
There are then ways to tone the coin with an attractive patine to make it an attractive item--that appears 'aged'.

I have an ultrasonic cleaner. So it's just water no abrasion. It came out pretty nice. I'm not doing anything else to it. I like it as is.

That's exactly it you like it

We get lots of questions about how to clean and how much, me I prefer to see the detail pop in the Silver, but with leaving the black patina in the back ground. It's each to there own way. Again a nice find.

Thanks! Yeah I like to see the silver but I don't want it to look like a proof right out of the mint.
