I think you can go SpanAm era for those. They should not have a filled back on them. I found two of those one day and they were intertwined. We had the old Ft Oglethorpe in our area and they often took maneuvers in the surrounding area. So we find them from time to time.

I had thought the SpanAm war but wasnt sure, are these from calvary saddles? If so what part could you find me a pic if you have one and dont mind.

Fort Oglethorpe was WWI. 6th calvary. Here is what their tack looked like. I dug their landfill. That posted has diffrent style letters? :dontknow:

Hey TnMountain, you are probably correct. I am not that good on the letters. If we can get Charlie Harris to stop by he can tell us. I will tell him to look in when I see him at the club this week.

They date Span Am-WWI period and went on a harness. I had a complete one and the part you have was part of a bigger piece that went of the horses back or neck.

I am pretty sure our style was for horse tack. Ole Charlie Harris have not heard that name in a while.
What club are you in? Hickorry valley bunch? I am near missionary ridge and always hunt alone,lol never can keep a digging partner. They all end up in trouble with the wifes because of my expeditions!!

So this one has block letters still has the leather attached. What era is this??
