flat button, probably 1800s. extra standard refers to the gold gilt grade I believe, at least the extra does refer to gilt for sure.

Thank you so much. I didn't know what that meant at all. :D

Nice find. Sorry I can’t help with the ID.

Flat button, definitely not pewter with that backmark. Like TP says the backmark refers to the gilt. Since that one is thicker, it is closer to 1840 or so.

Congrats on the nice find! :occasion14: Any detail on the front?

Thank you everyone for your help and comments. Here is the front of the button. I can't see any markings or details.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Thank you everyone for your help and comments. Here is the front of the button. I can't see any markings or details.
Most of the gold gilt copper-alloy buttons are plain on the front. It's circa 1830s

Nice find. I always love it when I find a button with the thread/cloth still intact in the loop after being in the ground 100+ years.

Thank you! I was happily surprised to see that the thread/cloth did not deteriorate. :)

Nice recovery on the old button, congrats & HH
