Need help to indentify

found in north Carolina while digging for rubies and sapphires, maybe topaz,moonstone or sunstone ,some are clear others yellowish

Quartz?

maybe but very smooth some are very clear and some have a yellowish glow. most Quartz I find there is very rough, these look as though they they may have traveled down a water source.

A few may be topaz but most look to be worn quartz. Specific gravity and hardness tests will sort them out. Worn topaz tends to be very smooth and when wet very translucent. When panning or screening topaz, being dense, will fall to the bottom quite quickly~ so will corundum. Its something to look for when prospecting. Of the bitts shown in the last picture the smooth translucent stone at the upper left is the only one I'd suspect as topaz.

Thank you DDancer, that helps will do hardness test to tell for sure, these were found along with all these corundum.

The smoother translucent pieces could be, yes. Could even be chalcedony. Thats why specific gravity and hardness testing are needed. Due to the locality however there is a high probability that topaz is present for some of the specimens jsurddy.
Defined structure would also help for, some, suspected topaz but that requires a closer view than given here.
