Hi all.

Found this recently at a 1930's home. The front has either GS or CS. I think it's a G because it has the little line thingy.

I believe I deciphered the backmark, but I'm not positive. OEHMS ACME HALL BALTIMORE

I assume some sort of civilian button similar to FD (Fire Department) or something like that, but I can't come up with what GS would stand for.

Thanks for any help.

That looks like a "D" to me. If it was a "G", the upper left and lower right corners would be clipped. Gary

I think the same thing as Toddspoint. I'm pretty sure that is a D and not a G. The line on the left is coming straight down. Not characteristic of the letter G which would have a little curve to it.

Department of Sanitation? Looks like a "D" to me ,too.
Nice find!

I would think it is a School button...???

For a brief period in the '20's North Carolina Central University was known as Durham State?

(Just a guess)

Cool button would be cool to get a solid ID

Thanks for the responses. It could be a D, but under my cheapo hand held magnifier it looks like a G since it has that little area pointing back to the left. I wouldn't bet my life on it though. :happysmiley:

Whatever it is, it's obviously quite rare and valuable! I'll start the bidding at $100k. :laughing7:

GL & HH!!

Could the first letter be a "B"?

I don't think so. I don't see any indication of a line in the middle. But, it's in pretty bad shape, so it's hard to say for sure. The part I'm seeing that I think makes it a G may just be some random gunk. If so, then it's likely a D.

I'll see if I can get some pics from different angles.

Thanks again to those who have responded.

D, B, G..... it's still a nice button! Congrats! :icon_thumleft:
