Three British Pennies and one British halfpenny.

I found a match to your half penny last year!

Nice finds. Cool to see them copper colored instead of green.

Three pennies and a half penny from Great Britain. Now, there were 4 farthings in a penny, so the half penny was 2 farthings. There are 4 silver pennies in a Groat, there were 12 pennies in a Shilling. 2 shillings in a florin, 5 shillings in a crown, 20 shillings in a pound, and 21 shillings in a guinea. That's why in old movies you will see prices in England as 3/10/5 (that would be 3 pounds, 10 shillings, 5 pennies). A sovereign was a gold pound coin (so a 5 pound gold coin was 5 sovereigns).

They went decimal in 1971. Now it is 100 pennies in a pound.

Fun, eh?

I love that old system. I especially love the Guinea. The price Toyotas in Pounds, and Rolls Royces in Guineas.
