HI,

Any help identifying these objects would be appreciated! They are silver-plated copper, approx. 1 1/2" by 1 3/4". The site where they were found is old, Civil War era.

Thanks in advance!

What's the other side look like? Just a quick look reminds me of the end cap to a belt or even collar stays like on a western shirt???? Any bent edges that may have been used to clamp them on something???

There's one iron solder spot where something is missing, two circular "eyelets(?)", and one piece has a clip...almost like a sash or thin belt would go through it.

Thanks!

Is it silver plate or chrome?

To me they appear to be some type of automotive trim.

I could be mistaken but these objects look like they date after the civil war period. I will admit that soldiers took tons of personal items into battlefields and encampments so there is always a possibility it could have come from that era.

I'll bet my .047% it's a pair of zipper pulls. Monty

looks like both sides of some type of hasp to me... ?

one looks curved one way... the other opposite..
The two eyes on each piece would all go together and have a pin thru them to pivot..
the bottom piece has/or had a tab and the top piece has a slot where they clipped together.

or, im completely wrong .. too much mysterious (KAAS) brick. ;D

cheers

Hi,

As to dating the site...approx. 1850-1932.

As far as I can tell, the pieces are silver-plated, not chrome!

This site has never been detected! Doesn't seem to be much junk lying around either!

Thanks so far on all the help!

Just based on the design alone, I would think this is an Art Deco-Era artifact. 1930-1940. And I agree that it looks chrome.

Parts of a wristwatch band? They would connect to the watch and then a twistaflex type band between??

I'm also thinking they look Art Deco in design. But my Art Deco time period would be around 1900s-1930s. They seem too big to be wristwatch band components.

Are the darker portions of them made of Bakelite, perhaps?

Just an old set of earrings withthe posts corroded off. That's my guess. A cuff link would have a thicker post as snagging would be much more common than with an earring.

Laater...
